Winner of numerous awards and recently appointed Lifetime ‘Platinum’ Ambassador for New Zealand Beef and Lamb, out-of-town visitors and locals alike will find dishes like no other coming out his bustling kitchen. Starting his career at an early age, Michael quickly gained a passion for excellence in the culinary arts and has worked across Otago winning great acclaim his beef, venison and lamb creations over the past 30 years.Striving to remain true to his own style of contemporary cooking, Michael always aims to promote premium South Island produce when sculpting each dish. And despite his celebrity status – conducting regular cooking demonstrations and making numerous media appearances – most of the time you will still find Michael firmly in his favourite place, the kitchen at Pier 24, the place for one-of-a-kind cooking from a one-of-a-kind chef.And don’t forget the desserts!
Also renowned for his venison, Michael has won the accolade National Cervena Plate winner, Southern Venison Plate winner and regularly invited to judge various culinary competitions. Michael is also currently featured on the TVNZ – NZ on a Plate with one of his well known Venison dishes.
Within his time in the kitchen he has also been involved in education tutoring the City and Guilds of London Professional Cookery course for a number of years, assessing at various polytechnics and as a member of the Standards Select Committee involved in developing chef education.
